Hello…Hello There…Happy Hello
So our big, white front door features this spiffy, scripty black “hello” that I cut from vinyl on my Silhouette. Every time we pull into the driveway, Jon & I say -out loud- ‘hello’ even if we are by ourselves. It’s kind of become an inside joke that isn’t funny, yet is funny. It’s all I could think about as I crafted today’s series of cards.
I used a stamp set from -wait for it- Papertrey Ink. [Have I mentioned how much I LOVE the amazing products they make?!?] It’s called Wonderful Words : Hello and today I made three different cards using the same stamp. I didn’t use the stamp in three different ways, but I did make three different styles of cards.
With all three cards I used patterned paper in addition to the stamps. Unintentionally, all the papers came from this Doodlebug paper pad, which is one of my current favorites.
On the first card, I used a green cardstock base & I strategically placed a block of plaid paper to the left side. Then I stacked two banners, facing opposite directions directly over the block of paper. On the larger orange banner, I stamped “hello” in brown ink and added “a happy” on an angle. Hand-drawn brown lines surround the edges of the card. The plaid paper reminds me of a scarecrow-so I feel like this card has an autumnal feel to it.
For the second card I chose to use the “hello” stamp by itself, but with several patterned papers. In my head, there was a correlation between the fox patterned paper, the “hello” stamp and the YouTube sensation “what does the fox say?” video. At least it made sense to me. I think the colors blend well together and I’m also a fan of the circular flow to the card. I stamped “hello” onto the background paper as well as on the circle, so that when they are layered, they match up. As a final detail, hand-drawn stitch lines surround the perimeter of the card.
The third and final card of the day is a unique color scheme for me, but I think it works. Another element that I really like is that the card works [visually] either landscape or portrait style.
I rounded two corners, either the bottom two or the right two, depending upon which orientation you feel is best for the card. Like I mentioned, it’s not my usual color scheme, but the purples, pinks and the splash of green just seem to work for me. I used grey ink for the “hello” and I added the word “there” as an afterthought, just to spice it up a little.
So three cards with three different looks, all with the same stamp. They will soon be added to the Etsy Shop.
Hopefully you’re having a wonderful week! Tomorrow I’ll be recapping some recently listed items in the shop so I hope you stop back to check them out.
