Smile & Celebrate – Splat Style!
Happy Thursday, friends!
On Tuesday I showcased a favorite technique with two stamps from the same set from Papertrey Ink. The set is called Splat and is available here. Today’s two cards will use stamps from the same set, including one stamp I used earlier this week – but in a completely different way.
Oftentimes when I’m making one card, it’s just as easy to make a second but in a similar style. So it was with today’s choices. Both cards have the same characteristics, including the block of color and washi tape that I used. However, two different color schemes and two different sentiments give off two completely different vibes, but in a good way.
The first features the same stamp as earlier this week, like I mentioned earlier. It’s the “smile” stamp, this time stamped in hot pink ink. I slightly overlapped the circle of color with the secondary text which reads, “someone loves you” and is stamped in black ink. This plays well off of a small strip of black cardstock that sits above a banner-like strip of textured silver washi tape. I love washi tape, in case you didn’t already know. This particular tape has such a cool pattern, almost like snake skin and has a subtle texture as well. So, so awesome. The white panel that everything is stamped and layered on is mounted to a hot pink card base, the same color as the ink used on the ‘smile” stamp. The ability of Papertrey Ink to produce products that are the same color is easily one of my top three reasons why they’re my favorite company to support.
And here’s a close-up of the splat circle, as well as the texture of that washi tape. Awesome, right?
The second card follows the same blueprint, or sketch, as the first card but in a bright green color scheme. When I inked up the stamp, which reads “celebrate”, I used two different green inks. I started in the middle with a darker, more leafy colored green. Then, around the edges I used a brighter limeade-colored ink which would end up matching the color of the card base. As I did with the first card, I stamped the secondary sentiment “you did it!” slightly overlapping the circle, in black ink. Below that, the strip of black cardstock and silver washi tape are layered.
And the close up. Here you can see the blending of the green inks a little better. I’m a big fan of cards that can be used for a variety of purposes as well. This one is fantastic for a celebration of nearly any event or accomplishment – the vagueness works for a multitude of reasons. One thing is for sure, your recipient will love to get this gem in the mail!
Two stamps, two different looks, two different cards. Both available in the Etsy Shop.
