One Stamp [Set]- Three Ways : Putting Down Roots
Today’s one stamp – three ways is going to feature three mini cards with stamps all from the same set – but each card is slightly different. The stamp set is called Putting Down Roots and is [of course] from Papertrey Ink. I was inspired to use these stamps because the plants featured in the set remind me of baby succulents and are similar to the plants I have in my office!
What’s more perfect than a mini card to accompany a small gift or a real life plant for a friend? Yes, not much of anything is more perfect. [I do realize how backwards that sounds!] These three cards are each perfect in their own right.
First up is a congratulations card with a small houseplant. The sentiment says “sending congrats your way.” and it slightly overlaps the stamped plant. I used a masking technique to mask off the bottom portion of the actual plant so that the entire image fit nicely on the card front. It’s a great technique and a helpful way to get more out of your stamps!
Adding hand-drawn lines around the edges is one of my favorite details. I love the way it’s imperfectly perfect.
The second card has a terracotta pot holding a cactus plant. The colors blend [almost] flawlessly and the stamped sentiment reads “it’s been forever.” and like the first card, the sentiment overlaps the plant.
The mix of fonts of the sentiment stamps makes me so happy-I love the classic text with the slight feel of true handwriting.
The third and final card has a plant which I’ve never seen in real life so that I have no idea what type of plant it is, but it’s quite cute. And it’s got a fun sentiment, “you make me oh so very happy” as well as the hand-drawn lines.
All three cards are mini and they measure 3″ x 3″. This is one of my favorite sizes of cards to make and send to friends. Although they don’t fit through the US mail, they’re great for tucking in with a gift like I mentioned above. Or leaving in a unique spot for someone to find. That’s a favorite, it’s what I do with cards for Jon nearly everyday as part of a Christmas gift.
While each card showcases three different plants as well as three different pots, it’s a good indicator of how many options are truly available in just one stamp set. Just by mixing up the colors of ink used allows for nearly a gazillion options! Little cards with a big impact, that’s what I think.
Thanks for stopping by, tomorrow will feature more recently listed cards on Etsy as well as some fun life updates and photos. Hopefully the middle of the week is proving to be good for you!
