Inspiration Monday : Gold & Silver
Happy Monday y’all!
This week’s inspiration is all courtesy of Target [who doesn’t love Target?!?] and probably thanks to the holiday season that is quickly coming! I stopped in our local Target to pick up some dryer sheets [which they didn’t have, by the way] and I couldn’t help but wander for a few to take in all the new holiday goodness they’ve got in stock! I’m always amazed at the way their ginormous hanging displays around the store are designed. Just brilliantly.
As I walked past the kitchen area, one particular end-cap display caught my eye. It was a mish-mosh of hand towels, placemats and table decor. This was my favorite element:
Cloth napkins with a repetitive pattern of overlapping gold and silver polka dots, about the size of a pencil eraser. Metallic but not overly bling-y or in your face sparkly.
As I walked on, the next end-cap was set up with what seemed like a mountain of candle holders, drinking glasses, coffee mugs, plates and platters with this pattern:
It almost reminds me of mercury glass [that might be what they’re going for, but I’m not sure]. The candle holders would be absolutely gorgeous with light flickering and reflecting inside. They had a set of drinking glasses, available in both tumblers and what I would call rocks glasses with small silver and gold snowflakes on them. Stunning. [Had they not been $19.99 for four they would have come home with me. They still might to be honest.] The combination of silver and gold together was just breathtaking.
As I continued around the store – and stumbled into the true holiday section – I found many more items with the gold & silver combination. For example, this package of wreath decor:
These holiday wrapping bows:
And this wrapping paper with silver dots on silver paper, silver dots on gold paper, and gold dots on gold paper:
It seemed like everywhere I turned, everything was silver and gold. Together.
I have always been a silver type of girl. Always. Whether it was jewelry or accessories or if I had to pick one or the other, it would always be silver. However, gold is starting to grow on me in a good way, and I have to admit that combined with silver it might just be my new favorite thing. I can’t decide if it is just my favorite in terms of holiday goodness, or in general.
You might remember these anniversary cards I featured a few weeks back in both silver and in gold. Now I’m wondering why I didn’t bother making one with both colors?!? I’m thinking that I might just have to use this Target inspiration to make some holiday tags utilizing both colors together. Maybe I’ll even use some of the same patterns like polka dots. And maybe a card or two. Definitely sounds like a plan to me.
I would’ve gotten started already if I had some gold in my stash, but considering I have no gold paper, ink or pens I think I’ll have to stock up before I can utilize my inspiration. It’s on the list for the week, that’s for sure.
What’s inspiring you these days? A specific color scheme? A pattern? A song? I’d love to know. Sharing inspiration is definitely one of my favorite things, especially since people interpret things differently!
Hopefully your week is off to a stellar start. It’s going to be a super busy one for me as I finish up last minute details before my first craft show of the year on Saturday. Hopefully you’ll continue to come back and check out what’s new. There’s a lot in store!
I’ll be back tomorrow with Etsy Recaps!
