One Stamp Set : Three Ways – Big Hugs
Woot woot, I made it to Wednesday!
As promised, today I am sharing three cards that I recently made (with Valentine’s Day in mind) using a brand new stamp set from Papertrey Ink.
I will apologize now for the poor photo quality. I am still struggling with finding a way to properly utilize the natural daylight that I get in the office. My walls are a bright sky blue and even when I use a white background, I often get an off cast color. So, I apologize. Like I said, I’m experimenting with the best way to get good photos. Stay tuned for updates on that.
The first card uses a traditional Valentine’s Day color scheme with a bright pink background and a light grey panel.
While it is a little difficult to see in the photo, I did use a variety of pink inks on the focal word “hugs” while trying to achieve an ombré effect. (I’m super excited to get my hands on the new Hero Arts ombré ink pads-so many options for awesomeness!)
The secondary portion of the sentiment (“because you can never have too many”) is one of my favorites in the set.
Here is another angle:
Simple. Clean. Classy. Love.
The second card uses another large focal stamp, also with the word “hugs” and somewhat in an ombré fashion as well. (This card is so not blue, but that’s the poor lighting I previously mentioned. Again, sorry.)
The card base is a light blue and is topped with a pale yellow panel. Hugs is stamped in multiple shades of blue and the secondary sentiment is in black. I felt like the yellow paper was perfect considering the sentiment references making a day “brighter”.
My favorite element of this card is the small cluster of x’s & o’s that I arranged in a smattering around the sentiment.
The third and final card of the day uses yet another bold sentiment from the set! There are coordinating die-cuts available but I wasn’t sure that I needed them. Now that I have had the set for a little while, I am thinking I am definitely going to need them!
I started with a crisp white card base and a bright tangerine colored panel. Using a darker shade of orange ink, I stamped the big “hugs” and added the second half of the sentiment below in black ink. I absolutely LOVE the font PTI chose for the sentiments!
My favorite element of this card are the tiny openings in each of the letters of the word “hugs”. They create an adorable little pattern and for this card I used a white gel pen to color them in so that they matched the card base.
And that’s all three cards. They are all pretty simple in style and format, but I love the way that they turned out. And I am totally loving this new stamp set!
For those that have commented on my previous cards for the MFT challenged, thanks so much for your kind words! You totally made my day!
I will be back tomorrow with items on Etsy!
